This piano was originally built in Hamburg, Germany in 1911.
I was traveling in Europe at the time, and honestly, I was not planning to buy another piano. But the moment I played this Steinway Model B, everything changed.
The sound was breathtaking.
I have played thousands of pianos throughout my life — Steinways, Bechsteins, Yamahas, Bösendorfers, Faziolis — but the first time I played a truly great Hamburg Steinway, I immediately understood why some instruments become legendary.
This particular Model B completely stopped me in my tracks.
The purity of tone, the balance across the keyboard, the singing treble, the warm and powerful bass — everything felt extraordinarily natural. It wasn’t just loud or impressive. It had beauty, clarity, and soul.
I remember thinking about this piano for three days.
I told myself:
“If I leave Europe without bringing this piano back to America, I may regret it for the rest of my life.”
So I took the leap and brought it home.
This piano has since been rebuilt using 100% genuine Hamburg Steinway factory parts, while preserving the original spirit of the instrument. It also features a rare and stunning two-tone Bubinga wood design, making it visually as extraordinary as it is musically.
