This piano was consigned to us shortly after we opened our new store location, and from the moment I first played it, I immediately recognized it as a very special 2014 Steinway Model B.
The tone of this piano is exceptionally warm, deep, and beautifully layered. The bass is powerful and orchestral, producing the kind of richness and authority that only a great Steinway can offer. The middle register has a wonderful singing quality, while the treble delivers outstanding tonal color, clarity, and brilliance without becoming harsh.
Another aspect I personally love about this piano is the keyboard response and repetition. The touch feels incredibly refined, responsive, and musically satisfying, allowing the pianist to shape phrases with great control and expression.
The Steinway Model B is often referred to as “the perfect piano size.” At 6’11”, it offers the ideal balance between concert-level power and the intimacy needed for homes, studios, and teaching environments. Because of this, the Model B has long been the preferred choice of concert pianists, recording artists, conservatories, and serious musicians around the world.
In addition, the scale design of the Model B provides remarkable balance throughout the keyboard. It allows for extremely delicate musical expression while also being capable of producing tremendous power and dynamic range when needed.
This particular 2014 Model B is a wonderful example of why the Steinway Model B continues to be regarded as one of the greatest grand piano designs ever created.
